Kylie-Jane Shannon, owner of Jungle Kids Indoor Play Centre, provides some well-rounded, exciting at-home play centre ideas that are simple to set-up.

“Children are active little beings, and even at home, they require healthy, educational, and constructive levels of entertainment,” says Kylie. Some play centre ideas that parents can incorporate into their homes include; an obstacle course, free drawing, ball pass, snack-making, and make-believe.

Obstacle Course: “Make home the ultimate and fun-filled obstacle course by using pillows, rugs, sheets, toys and furniture, for kids to navigate,” says Kylie. “Make sure the items are soft and safe, and enjoy watching them create a world of wonder,” adds Kylie.

Free-drawing: “Provide some wax crayons, colour pencils, water based paints, and large pieces of paper, and watch as their artistic flair and imagination run wild,” says Kylie.

Ball Pass: Whether it’s outside or inside, tossing a ball back and forth with little ones assists in building their fine-motor skills, and provides a great level of fun. Try using a variety of balls (suitable for the area in which they are playing), soft, large, small, light, and heavy and watch their dexterity improve as they become more confident with throwing, tossing and catching.

Snack-making: Making meals can become even more exciting, when kids help in the kitchen when preparing a snack for the family. Provide a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables and encourage them to taste and prepare colourful and healthy meal options. “For even more fun and individuality, let them prepare their plates in their own way; you might be surprised at what they come up with and what they eat,” says Kylie.

Make-believe: The home can be a mystical and exciting environment for make-believe play. Provide a box of dress-ups and encourage kids to make their own props and watch their imaginations explode. “Enable them to be as creative as possible, by adding effects such as music or lighting,” says Kylie.

“Children do not have face boredom when you realise that the home can be an ideal play centre experience away from the play centre,” says Kylie. Allowing them the comfort, creative control and unconditional support throughout their play experience will work towards their benefit, and support their physical, emotional and social development.

Jungle Kids is an indoor play centre that offers parents and children a variety of activities to enjoy. Parent supervision is a must and children need to wear socks always to enjoy the amenities, but they are the only rules, other than to enjoy and have fun! Some of the amenities offered at Jungle Kids include; an enclosed area specifically for toddlers, a ball pit area, a moving ride and a triple storey playground. Jungle Kids has a four gun cannon which children can play with and they offer face painting which kids just love. There is also an in-centre cafe that offers delicious options for parents and kids and you don’t even have to leave the facility! The cafe is a great place for parents to meet other parents and make friends.

The enclosed toddlers’ area provides a safe and fun area for toddlers to play in, make friends and develop skills. The ball pit area is always a favourite where children can jump in and play. If kids are looking for a moving ride, the Jeep Rider is for them. It will move and make them feel as if they are really in a moving vehicle. The triple storey playground is something to write home about. It offers three levels of different playground facilities giving children a wide variety of play and ride options. The triple storey slide is a huge three slide ride.

Besides the regular amenities offered at Jungle Kids, there are also some special festivity options available. If a private function or kids birthday is being planned, look no further than Jungle Kids. “We cater for all ages and offer a variety of different themed parties that children can choose from. For example, we offer a Fairy Party, a Pirate Party, and a Safari Party which are all very popular. We also offer a regular party option, or talk to us about your particular theme,” says Kylie.

A standard party package includes the jungle room for an hour and a half as well as many food options to choose from. We cater for all dietary requirements, just let us know when you book. Our themed parties (The Pirate Party, Fairy Party and the Safari Party) include the same basics as the standard option, however they also include themed table decorations, balloons and ideas for the themed costumes.

Jungle Kids is the perfect place to spend a fun day or host a memorable birthday party for your child. The one-stop venue is a great place for all ages. They also have special events such as dance classes. While these are not permanent events they are very popular, so keep an eye out for when they are available and book your child in for a great experience.
